Biography

Born and raised in France, Arnault founded kapok in 2006 as an antidote to the perceived blandness of Hong Kong retail scene. kapok focuses on designers and brands whose work reflects his attitude towards quality craftsmanship and creativity in design. kapok has grown to a network of 7 stores in 2 countries: Hong Kong and Singapore.

Arnault has developed an extensive knowledge and understanding of the Asian consumer goods and retail environment since 1996, when he moved to Hong Kong. In 2001, he joined the team in charge of the development of the Lomography brand in Asia as the head of Southeast Asian operations. Arnault was also the co-owner and director of Working Unit Limited founded in 2005, the exclusive distributor for the Moleskine brand in Southeast Asia. He also brought to Hong Kong the first retail stores for Maison Kitsuné and l’Officine Universelle Buly.

Anson joined KPMG in Hong Kong in 1999 and is currently a Partner based in the Hong Kong office heading up the Consumer and Retail Practice. He is part of the KPMG Regional Consumer and Retail Practice Leadership team as well as being a member of the Global Technology Innovation Centre and the Cluster Leader for the Technology, Media & Telecoms Practice based in Hong Kong.

Being an Impact Purpose Organization, it dedicates to innovating social change through pioneering impact ventures, aggregating impact capital and providing Business 2.0 consultancy.

Prior to establishing SVhk, Francis was the Head of Strategy in a listed technology conglomerate in HK. He graduated from the City University of Hong Kong and was conferred as an Honorary Fellow by the University in 2013. He was selected as one of the 100 Asia Pioneers by The Purpose Economy in 2014, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2012, one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2011 and Honorary Fellow of the Education University of HK in 2018. Born in Montreal, Canada, Jess now calls Hong Kong home. She grew up camping and exploring with her family, and since her early years, has had a strong connection to the natural environment, which is where her passions have grown from. She is most happy on skis, biking, hiking, practicing yoga, or adventuring with family and friends. She is passionate about sustainability, supporting a wholistic lifestyle approach that encourages each person to be responsible for their own impact, personally as well as on their surroundings.

She sits on the lululemon impact team that leads all of the work driving sustainability & social impact within the APAC region. This team ensures that impact work remains a priority within the organisation, and this in turn this helps lululemon to reach its goals and pursue its purpose.

With keen knowledge in sustainable upcycling, zero waste and reconstruction techniques, Denise oversees the brand’s unique, mission-driven direction to rescue quality excess materials, to reuse and reimagine them into beautiful products that inspire customers to create a conscious closet to love.

Graduated from the world-renowned Rhode Island School of Design, Denise Ho has been working in the fashion industry for 19 years as a celebrated stylist, fashion designer and entrepreneur. Having spent time in New York, London, Hong Kong and everywhere in between, Denise has styled ShuQi, Michelle Yeoh, James Franco, Luke Evans, Mike Horn, Dujuan, Shupei, Bonnie Chen etc, with styling work seen on Vanity Fair Italy, Vogue Taiwan, SCMP Style, Modern Weekly, Prestige and more. Denise has also styled for Lane Crawford, Charriol and Shanghai Tang’s global campaigns, as well as done fashion-related creative works for Adidas APAC, Apple, Pacific Place, Cathay Pacific and Reebok, just to name a few.

Over the years, Denise created two fashion brands – a kidswear label “A For Apple” in 2012 which opened her eyes to the waste-making factory manufacturing process, as well as a knitwear brand “Knotti” in 2015 that used only bio degradeable yarn and employed talented home knitter from various communities around Hong Kong. It is Denise’s endeavour to change the fashion world and after being involved with the Redress Design Award for 5 years as resident stylist, show producer and a member of the judging panel last year, Denise’s strong ethical and sustainable perspective on fashion brings her to The R Collective as creative director.

Biography

After graduating from Stanford in 2004, Theodore has been developing his family’s jewelry retail network and wholesale business and extending them to the online world. More recently, he has founded CoCoon, which operates a vibrant co-working space and supports startups in Hong Kong.

In his capacity as MaBelle’s Managing Director, Theodore designed and built an online fulfillment infrastructure and successfully integrated it into the group’s 100+ stores in Hong Kong and China. Customers can now seamlessly purchase any piece of jewellery from an inventory of over 6000 styles online and pick up their goods offline in under 2 days.

Online sales and online induced in-store sales from these websites have increased by double-digit percentages consistently over the past 6 years. The jewelry e-commerce platforms now reach customers in over 76 countries and 400 cities internationally.

In 2012, Theodore co-founded Born to Fly with his family. This company runs CoCoon, an incubator for startups and an idea exchange platform that aims to reignite the entrepreneurial spirit in Hong Kong and to stimulate the creation of innovative jobs.

Theodore and his team, over the past 7 years, created one of the largest physical community of entrepreneurs with over 30K connections, 1200 CoCoon alumni and while hosting 150+ events annually. In particular, CoCoon hosts monthly Pitch Nights and various events to bridge established business owners and investors with up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Collectively, members raised over $5.4 billion HKD (USD600M) in funding through investors and referrals they met at Pitch Night.

Encouraged by the success of CoCoon’s startups, in 2016, Theodore and his partners launched CoCoon Ignite Ventures. With connected capital, CoCoon Ignite Venture invests in early stage entrepreneurs who have a unique vision of the new economy: transitioning from asset-based models to non-asset based, decentralized networks and business models.

She found Jilian and transformed the luxury lingerie business into one of the earliest global Omni-channel businesses in 2006 and subsequently introduced the first commercialized AI mirror. Ms. Tong is a Top 50 Innovative Retail Leaders in Hong Kong honoree.

Esterina is currently the Director of Retail in Asia (part of Bluebell) and in charge of the media brand operations including content selection, curation, edition, and strategy. Additionally, she is involved in communication and business development projects for the Group. She is also Chairman of the Retail Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Women’s Leadership Network of The Italian Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to Retail in Asia, she taught media and business communication at the university level, and worked for companies in fashion and tourism. She is often invited to share her social semiotic perspectives on luxury and fashion branding in public and private institutions.

She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is currently Junior Adjunct Professor at the Universita’ degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Italy. Her research interests include luxury and its intersection with art, space, CSR, country of origin effect.

She has holds a M.A. in Foreign Languages for Business Communication from the Universita’ degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia (Italy), a B.A. in Language Mediation from the Universita’ degli Studi della Calabria (Italy), and has also studied at the University of Cambridge (UK) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has just completed the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Programme in Singapore.

Lucy has been based in Asia Pacific for 20 years. She is passionate about bringing together culturally diverse teams to solve complex problems.

Her career has kept her at the forefront of digital innovation in building brands.

At the start of her career with Vodafone in the UK she led the creation of the first e-mail to pager service, and whilst that innovation quickly became obsolete with the invention of SMS it ignited her passion for finding new ways to connect with consumers through technology.

Moving to Asia she has worked with many brands to create their first digital platforms and programmes including Levi Strauss, American Express, IBM and Cisco Systems. She also worked as a brand planner leading the creation of the UOB Women’s Card (For Women Who’ve Earned It), their most successful ever credit card launch.

She is an expert in creating data driven impactful engagement between brands and customers leading the strategy for Nestle’s global digital transformation from mass marketer to PCE (Personalized Consumer Experience), and in 2017 was named Asia Pacific Customer Engagement Planner of the Year by Campaign Magazine.

Throughout his career he has delivered digital transformation and system implementation projects for multinational clients in the Financial, Transportation, Telecommunications and Retail sector in Hong Kong, Germany, Malaysia and China.

He is a founding member of the KPMG ASPAC Blockchain Alliance and has provided business strategy and technology insights on blockchain technology to many of our clients in Hong Kong, including a paper for the Logistics and Transportation sector describing the Hong Kong Trade Finance Platform.

Over the past 18 months, he has specialised on Blockchain-based track and trace systems and is currently rolling out the KPMG Origins solution with various clients in Asia Pacific to protect their products against counterfeit and improve digital record of certificates.

Connected Retail Experiences is a brand-new type of conference event which aims to showcase the people and the technology behind creating the best-connected retail brand experiences.

What are Connected Retail Brand Experiences? They are the customer-centric experiences, based on how customers approach shopping with no limitations by channel.

The event will build on past retail events but contain more than just the usual keynote presentations and panel discussions. Delegates will be included in the event as an active participant and expected to take part in hands-on workshops, contribute to discussions and dive deep into the purpose behind the brand and the job they do.

The event is created with eight closely connected and overlapping themes which after the day and a half duration of the event will have delegates leaving the venue with a new perspective and actionable changes to implement in their role and daily lives.
